Thanks and stuff.
Thanksgiving is drawing near. A bunch of peeps are posting what they’re thankful for on Facebook… Family, their kids, jobs, friends, stuff we should all be thankful for. I’ll post some things I’m thankful for.
- 7:20 AM. I am thankful that everyday I happen to wake at 7:20 AM, after 40 minutes of hitting the snooze button. I panic, roll out of bed, throw on some deodorant, slap on some eyeshadow and mascara (missing half of my lashes like I did this morning), fill my travel mug with coffee, and in the car by 7:30. 8 AM classes and I do not get along.
- 1 hour classes, 3 hour breaks. I am VERY thankful that my 8 AM class on MWF is only one hour, and that I usually don’t work until noon. This gives me time to nap and shower. Two things very important for the rest of my day. I’m sure my coworkers appreciate the shower, as well.
- Facebook. Sure, seems shallow. But I do love doing the occasional FB stalk on someone I went to high school with who is still living in our hometown, working at the gas station, and does nothing but party and pass out every night. Makes me feel like my life is going somewhere.
- Pinterest.com. Nothing is better for inspiration, all while procrastinating your homework. This inspiration is all crap I’ll probably never do. Crafts, organization techniques, buying really cool (and expensive) clothing that won’t ever look that good on me, awesome recipes that look delicious, and of course, taking that old t-shirt and making it into a kickass scarf or a skirt. Let’s not forget the super awesome, elegant wedding dresses, rings, decorations, and photos that even if I ever DO get married, I’ll never be able to afford.
- Hellogiggles.com. Step 2 of procrastination. It’s the best when you haven’t checked it in 2-3 days, because then there’s 10 tabs open of blog posts/articles that you NEED to read. Really important stuff, too. Like why Ryan Gossling is so hot, updates on the Kardashians, totally awesome articles on stuff from the 90s, and of course, play by play recaps of the newest episodes from Bravo. Bravo, HG, I love you.

In the 21st century, one of the best anti-poverty programs is a world-class education. In this country, the success of our children cannot depend more on where they live than their potential.

Yes, GOP, let’s delay payments and funding to public schools instead of raising taxes on Mn’s richest 2%… because CLEARLY the schools are the ones with extra money that couldn’t possibly go toward anything important, like, oh I don’t know—- our children?! No, no… Let’s protect our millionaires from giving when they have more to give and take it from resources that are already struggling and cutting programs.
Great idea.

A teacher has two jobs; fill young minds with knowledge, yes, but more important, give those minds a compass so that that knowledge doesn’t go to waste.
